09:30 – walk up to castle esplanade and visit the magnificent Edinburgh Castle. Allow approximately 90 minutes for visiting the castle. Book yout ticket in advance and bring it with you.

11:00 – Proceed by walking down Royal Mile, visiting various closes off Lawnmarket – Milnes Court, Writer’s Close.

11:20 – Coffee break – take the weight off your feet with a hot or cold drink.

11:30 – Visit St Giles Cathedral in Parliament Square. If small group (4–6 people), visit Parliament Hall behind the cathedral in Parliament Square.

12:30 – Visit the Mercat Cross and City Chambers opposite from the Cross. Continue down Royal Mile, pause at Tron Church. Pass John Knox House, Storytelling Centre and former Netherbow Town Gate. Continue down Canongate, visiting closes and gardens of this area en route – Dunbar Close, Whitehorse Close. See the Scottish Parliament from the outside.

13:15 – Arrive at Holyrood Palace and learn about the official residence of the British Monarch in Scotland. If visiting the Palace, allow 60 minutes for the visit. There is a cafe here for lunch.
