Terms and Conditions

The STGA make their bookings as an agent for the guide(s) and do not accept any liability in connection with these bookings.

  •  The contract is between you, the Client, and the guide(s).
  •  All guiding fees and conditions should be agreed between yourselves and your guide(s) prior to the commencement of the tour.

Guiding Fees payable to the guide(s)/STGA office:

  • We regret that the Competition Act 1998 (“CA98”) prevents our members, who are all self employed and run their own businesses, from agreeing collectively to minimum recommended guiding rates. The Office of Fair Trading has advised us that such practice will breach the provisions of the above Act.
  • Our Members will advise us individually of the rates they propose to charge for 2011 and once you make a booking either through our Booking Service or directly with the guide(s) you will be given the appropriate guiding rate depending on your specific requirements.
  • Payment preferred in advance or strictly 30 days after tour.
  • Penalty fee may be incurred if payment is out with this period.


Booking Fee payable to STGA:
A booking fee is payable for each guide booked through our Booking Service.

  •  £11.50 per guide per half-day tour
  •  £17.25 per guide per full-day tour
  •  £23 per guide per extended tour (anything over 1 day)


Booking Fees may be paid by:

  •  Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Delta)
  •  Cash to the Guide for them to be pass on to us
  •  Immediately on receipt of our invoice
  •  Bank payments- clients  are responsible for ensuring payment in full covers bank charges (in sterling)

Booking fees are non returnable

Supplementary Conditions:

  • Full Day Tours: on those lasting more than 8 hours, a supplementary payment for each additional hour may be is payable. A lunch allowance is also payable.
  • Half Day Tours: on those lasting more than 4 hours, or ending after 13.00hrs, a supplementary payment for each additional hour may be payable.
  • Extended Tours: Lunch, dinner, bed & breakfast to be provided. Overtime work and expenses to be negotiated prior to departure.
  • Travelling expenses to be negotiated, e.g. to a pick-up point or from drop-off point.

Cancellation of Guiding Fees:

  • Full & Half Day Tours: if less than 7 days notice of cancellation is given, a fee of 50% will be payable; if less than 24 hrs, full fee will be payable
  • Extended Tours: if less than 28 days notice is given, a fee of 50% will be payable; if less than 7 days, full fee will be payable.
