STGA Green Badge Course
The STGA Green Badge course is a regional course. Guides are trained for a specific operational area set by the STGA. The areas of training have been set up to ensure that sufficient guides are available in an area to meet the demands of the tourism industry.
Current Green Badge areas are the islands of Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles. Mainland areas are the Northern Highlands and the North East, Aberdeen and Environs.
Green Badge courses for Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles are currently under redevelopment. Further notice will be published when available.
The Northern Highlands Green Badge course for 2021 has been completed. This course is currently under review.
North East Scotland: History, Landscape, Culture and Economy
2022 Green Badge Training
2022 Green Badge training will currently focus on guide training for the North East, Aberdeen and Environs to enable a good supply of Guides to meet the needs of the tourism industry and to service the cruise ship market at the new Aberdeen deep-water, as well as Dundee harbour.
It was agreed to a total of 3 rounds of training in partnership with Aberdeen University streaming the Core Learning element of the course.
Full details for the Guide Training programme will be published on 20 October 2021. The programme will commence with an Introductory Weekend Webinar held over Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th January 2022.
This course is open to all applicants that have completed or are working through the North-East Scotland: History, Landscape, Culture and Economy online course, which is delivered by the University of Aberdeen.
