STGA Guides Are Simply The Best In The Business.
No tourist guides know Scotland like we do. But to be the best guide requires a lot more than simply being able to deliver accurate facts to your visitors. Although we learn a vast amount of knowledge about this country, the learning of practical guiding skills also features heavily in our courses.
For more than 50 years we have been honing our knowledge and guiding skills to perfection- and this passion for learning is embraced by every one of our members. Only STGA guides can guarantee both committed professionalism and a deep understanding of our beautiful country.
Here are some of the reasons why you should choose an STGA guide.
Training. All STGA guides have successfully completed a rigorous programme of training and assessment before being admitted to membership of the Association. This naturally covers in-depth knowledge of Scotland’s history, culture and landscape, but also includes practical training in professional guiding skills (including group management and safety) and effective communication. As a result, you can be confident that your STGA guide will be knowledgeable, informative and entertaining.
Professionalism. All our members are bound by the Association’s Code of Conduct and our Standards of Performance. These are backed up by effective disciplinary procedures, and breaches of the Code or Standards may result, after full investigation, in sanctions up to and including withdrawal of membership.
Insurance. All Blue and Green Badge guides carry full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance cover, by virtue of their membership of the Association.
Continuous learning. The STGA runs a wide-ranging programme of Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) classes and events, and many members also sign up for relevant classes and courses run by third parties.
When you use an STGA guide, you can be confident that your tour will be enjoyable, informative and trouble-free. Booking a guide – either yourself or through our office – could not be easier. We look forward to seeing you soon!
