Johnny Pavon - Obituary Notice
2 April 2012
It is with deep sadness and regret that we advise of the passing of Blue Badge Guide, Johnny Pavon on Sunday 1st April 2012 of a suspected heart attack, at the young age of 43.

Friend and colleague, Alister McDermott shared some of his memories and personal history;
“He was a very young man and fit too, working out in the gym and weight lifting. His home was in South America, Ecuador.
His first love was conservation, nature and birds and when he came to Scotland he worked with the bird sanctuary at Loch Leven and at the Animal Rescue Centre at Middlebank Farm, Dunfermline.
He was an incredibly intelligent and quality guide who studied with myself and the class of 2006-08 and who worked mainly in the Spanish speaking market, as a native Spanish speaker. He was very quietly controlled and dignified in everything he did and was just a pleasure to have known.
Johnny is survived by his wife Aileen and together they managed their first trip for a number of years, back to South America last year. It was a great occasion for them and they were looking forward to many more such journeys. I was too because he was good enough to bring back a bottle of rare whisky for me from his last trip.”
Helen Houston, another guiding colleague, recalled that Johnny had come to Scotland to pursue Aileen, whom he met when she accompanied a VIP tour group to to South America, a group that was led by Johnny.
STGA Chairman, Norma Clarkson, added her own condolences;
"Johnny was an immensely popular colleague and an outstanding guide. We are all in shock at his untimely and tragic death, which is a great loss to the Association. His lovely, humorous personality will be long remembered, particularly by those who were fortunate enough to train and work with him. I know the whole membership joins with the Board in extending our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Aileen and his family"
Dot, Alison and Gem, the staff at Norie’s House, also extend their deepest sympathies to all who knew him well, and most especially to his wife, Aileen.
