Excellent Expo for STGA

1 May 2012

Scottish Tourist Guides Association have enjoyed another successful week at the VisitScotland Expo.

Expo 2012

Held last week at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingleston, Edinburgh, the travel trade fair attracted exhibitors from across Scotland and the UK and buyers from across the world. Bookings Secretary, Dot Wylie and Business Support Manager, Gem Scotland handled appointments and visitors, with Director Shonagh Toulouse and Blue Badge Guides Kirstie Holt and Rob Mungavin supporting.

Buyers to the STGA stall included tour operators, travel agents, DMC’s, hoteliers, and Visitor Attractions to name but a few, and there was strong interest from the Russian, Indian and North American markets, with many looking to find out how a guide can make a difference to their groups and customers visiting Scotland.

Business Support Manager, Gem Scotland, said “This has been one of our best years yet, in terms of the quantity and quality of visitors we had to our stall. We were very pleased to meet so many different individuals and groups involved in international tourism, all of whom seemed as passionate and as proud of Scotland as we are.

"Our main aim in attending this event is to get our message out that a professional tourist guide will make all the difference in your customer or groups’ experience of Scotland. Also, we were keen to let buyers know about what’s new in the STGA, such as our G:2014 tours and planned move to an online Guide List.

"I am confident that this has been excellent start to what will undoubtedly be another busy and recession busting season.”
