Do Tourist Guides Know It All?

There is a general perception in the tourist industry that tourist guides are pretty knowledgeable. And strictly speaking, that is true. Scottish Tourist Guides take guided tours for clients of all different backgrounds, in all areas of Scottish life. Fielding questions for curious tourists, corporate clients and journalists, and demonstrating a sound repertoire of general and sometimes obscure knowledge is all part of the course in the STGA.

But how well do you think they would do if put in front of a camera on a BBC Quiz Show?

Ross Tillbrook 2

Well STGA Guide Ross Tillbrook found out last August when he travelled to London to appear on BBC 1 quiz show 'Pointless'. The quiz involves contestants trying to score as few points as possible by plumbing the depths of their general knowledge to come up with answers no-one else can think of. After a paper application, telephone interview and audition in Glasgow, Ross and his friend Ben Morris found themselves alongside six other nervous contestants in BBC TV Centre in the same studio where Strictly Come Dancing is filmed facing host Alexander Armstrong.

Tune in to BBC1 at 5.15pm tonight, Wednesday 16th November, to find out how they got on. Hint - it's a very exciting episode!
